Applications for the 2012 - 2013 academic year are due by
April 30, 2012

Applications for the Maria S. Houghton Scholarship and the Jacob Conant Scholarship are now available.  Please see the information below for the eligibility requirements for each of these scholarships.

The application form for these scholarships can be downloaded here and are available at the Board of Selectmen's Office and the Guidance Offices at Wachusett Regional High School and Montachusett Regional Vocational Technical School.  Please specify your intended scholarship on the form.  Scholarship funds are limited and only completed applications will be considered.   To be considered complete, the Maria S. Houghton Scholarship applications must include the letters of recommendation.  You may apply for both scholarships, but please complete a separate form for each.

Completed applications must be returned to the Board of Selectmen's office on or before April 30,2012.  You may fax your application to the town hall at 978-422-0289.  Or mail it to this address:

MARIA S. HOUGHTON SCHOLARSHIP FUND

PURPOSE:        Further the education of boys and girls who are financially unable, either by themselves or by their parents, to pay further education.

CRITERIA:       
  • Resident of the Town of Sterling
  • The individual has to either be attending or has attended Sterling Public Schools with/without including the High School
  • The student either has to be attending or has attended the High School of another community
  • Applicants have to be selected as being deserving and worthy of further education by the Principal of the public schools or high school
  • The principal must consult at least three of the student’s teachers who have instructed said student beyond grade 5. The three teachers have to approve said candidate and submit letters recommending said student.
  • The term education is to be used in a broad sense.
JACOB CONANT SCHOLARSHIP

CRITERIA:
  • Resident of the Town of Sterling
  • The individual has to be attending high school and continuing their education.
