              STERLING‘S  SPORTS  ADVENTURE  2012 

WHO:    Children entering grade 1-8 

WHEN:  Session I:  June 19- June 22      8:30a.m. -2:30p.m.   

              Session II:  June 25- June 28   8:30a.m.- 2:30p.m                   

WHERE: Houghton Elementary and  Chocksett Middle School

FEE:    $145.00 /child /session  OR   $280.00/child/ sign up for both sessions

 *this program has a separate registration form that will be sent home in backpacks and will also be available at the Recreation Office and Recreation web site

Thomas and Susan Lauder will offer four days of a sports adventure.  Multi-sports program to expose participants to a wide variety of activities including team sports such as basketball, soccer, volleyball, and softball, individual activities and lifetime sports like tennis, Frisbee, and adventure games are all included in this fun week!

 Wear shorts, T-shirts, sneakers, jacket or sweatshirt for cooler weather.  Bring a lunch and sunscreen. All participants must enter at the Chocksett School entrance.



         YOUTH TENNIS

JULY TENNIS PROGRAM

WHO:      Children ages 8-17


WHEN:    Sesion I July 9-July 12 (7/13 rain date) 

               Session II July 23–  July 26 ( 7/27 rain date)    
                                   9:00-11:00am

 WHERE: West Sterling Tennis Courts    

 FEE:  $75.00/pp

Tennis pro Matt Pawelski will instruct in the fundamentals of tennis, games, and drills.  Bring a tennis racket, sunscreen, and a water bottle.  T-shirts and tennis balls are included in the cost.





AUGUST TENNIS PROGRAM

WHO:    Children ages 7-12

WHEN:  August 6-August 9 (8/10 raindate)                
                             9:00am-12:00pm

WHERE: West Sterling Tennis Courts

 FEE:  $100.00

Learn the fundamentals of good tennis.  Strong focus on basic skill production and proper grip.  The goal is to make tennis challenging and fun!!  Learn the right way for life!!!  Bring tennis rackets, water bottle, snack, and sunscreen.  Lorene Washburn & Patricia Pavone are – PJR Certified Pro .





BASKETBALL 


NEXT STEP BASKETBALL CLINIC

WHO:  Boys and Girls in grades 2-6

WHEN:  July 9-July 12th     
9:00am-12:00  basketball skills/drills/games or 12:00-2:00pm Leadership games and advanced  
            
***basketball training  or 9:00-2:00pm  all with a supervised lunch

WHERE: Houghton Elementary

FEE:             9-12pm $100/pp              12:00pm-2:00pm  $50/pp    
                                            9:00-2:00pm $150.00

Next Step Basketball clinic is dedicated to providing top-notch basketball instruction to elementary and middle school athletes.  We will emphasize the importance of teamwork, sportsmanship, and fundamentals.  A typical day will include, dynamic warm up, skill lecture, fundamental stations, competitions, leadership games, and advanced basketball drills. Athletes will be separated by ability to provide appropriate level of instruction.  There will be a supervised lunch for those who sign-up for 9-2pm.*this program has a separate registration form



 

TOGO PALAZZI BASKETBALL

WHO:    Boys and Girls ages 8-17

WHEN:  July 16- July 19             8:30-2:30

WHERE: Chocksett Middle School Gym & Houghton Elementary Gym             

FEE:    160. 00 /pp

This basketball program is designed to develop and improve the individual skills and game concepts.  Participants are grouped by age, size, gender, and ability to assure maximum challenge.  Togo Palazzi will offer a one on one lesson for individual players.  Staff includes Program Director- Matt Pawelski, and many other outstanding coaches at the High School and College level.  Bring sneakers , shorts, tee-shirt, sunscreen, lunch, water, and sweats for cool days.  Camp will start at 8:00 am on Monday July 16 .  All participants must enter at the Chocksett School entrance.  Cost includes a t-shirt.


 

                        CHEERLEADING CLINIC           NEW!

WHO:    Children entering grade 6-8     

WHEN:  July 9- July13              9:00am-12:00pm          

WHERE: Chocksett Middle School Gym               

FEE:    $80. 00 child

Come to learn basic motions, jumps, cheers, beginner tumbling, a short dance, and how to safely stunt with one another.  This clinic is for girls and boys with no experience and for those who have experience and want to expand their skills in cheerleading.  Instructor is Kristen Cormier  r-kcormier@comcast.net 





KIDS ZUMBA-YOGA


WHO: Students in Grades 1-8

WHEN:  I-  Monday, May 7-May 21
            II- Monday, June 4-June 25
            III-Monday, July 3- July 30

 MUST BE PAID BY THE 1ST CLASS OF EACH MONTH

Each 1 hour class BEGINS WITH 30-MINUTES OF Zumba-the hottest craze in fitness right now.  Zumba combines Latin inspired upbeat music with simple dance moves to get the children’s hearts pumping.  They’ll have so much fun, they won’t even realize they’re getting a terrific cardiovascular workout! The students will unwind with 30-minutes of Yoga, including techniques for breathing, kid-friendly balancing poses, and Savasana (the practice of relaxing physically and mentally).  Your children will exercise their bodies and minds in a positive, non-competitive environment… And they will love it!!  Bring a yoga mat and water bottle.   Instructor Kate Mellecker
