Codification of the General Bylaws Project
Article 19 of the May 14, 2012 Annual Town Meeting Warrant will address the codification of the town's General Bylaws. (Please note that only the General Bylaws will be considered, not the Board of Health Regulations.)
This project began in 2003 with an original submission of the current General, Personnel and Protective Bylaws to be re-numbered or “codified” into one book, “Town Code.” In November 2011, the Board of Selectmen voted unanimously to present on Town Meeting floor a proposed codification of the Town’s General Bylaws with the recommendation that all prior General Bylaws be repealed. For over a year during 2010-2011, two dedicated residents of the Town read and cross-referenced the text as well as the Attorney General's amendments to provide a complete reference and to insert historical information for quick access to amendments.
